3 Poses To Better SleepGrab some extra pillows or bolsters and a strap for this practice, which can be done in bed or on the floor. Moving the body with care while doing some gentle breathing or meditation is a great way to wake up or prepare for sleep. It’s also helpful if you have limited mobility or if you’re not feeling well. To protect your spine from sinking too deeply into the mattress, you may want to place a mat on the bed to create a bit of resistance. Begin and end this sequence by meditating for a few minutes in Savasana, focusing on your breath and the support of the bed beneath you.
SAVASANA (CORPSE POSE) WITH YOGA NIDRA Make yourself comfortable for Savasana using supports and blankets. Darken the room or use an eye pillow to cover your eyes. Scan your body from feet to head, noticing each part—your feet, legs, hips, buttocks, abdomen, chest, hands, arms, spine, neck, throat, jaw, mouth, tongue, face, head, as well as the back of the body and the spine all the way up through the neck—without judgment. Spend a few minutes here.
SUPPORTED MATSYASANA (FISH POSE)Roll to one side and place a folded blanket or pillow under your upper back. Lie back over the support and adjust your position until you feel expansion in the chest and an opening in the front of your throat. Extend your arms out at your sides. Take a few full, deep breaths here. To come out of the pose, gently lift the head and roll to the side. Then remove the support and lie back down.
RECLINED HANDSTANDLie on your back with your head at the top of the bed or mat. Inhale, and raise your arms overhead until your palms touch the headboard or wall. Adjust your distance from the headboard or wall until you can comfortably extend your arms. Press your hands into the headboard or wall to engage your arms, shoulders, and upper back. Take a few breaths here.
🌟 WEEKLY ASTROLOGY
As we start a three-month chapter with no retrogrades, this week is full of blessings and wake-up calls that will help us move forward.
On January 22, 2023, Uranus will move in a straight line. As it starts to move forward again, Uranus in the sign of Taurus, which is ruled by Venus, makes it easier to get rid of old things. It is here to bring us new air, visionary ideas, and waves of awakening.
As Uranus wakes up and brings freedom into our lives, don't be afraid to think outside the box. Let go of any identities, beliefs, or plans for your life that make you feel like you can't do more, and let this revolutionary planet take you by the hand and show you how much more is possible. Let it teach you how real, honest, and free you can feel. Let it surprise you. As a snake sheds its skin and the Moon starts over and over and over again, so should you.
On January 27, 2023, Venus will move from Aquarius to Pisces, which will be a kind, and dreamy shift in the universe.
Venus in Pisces invites you into the realm of dreams by bringing to mind the enchantment that exists all around you and whispering thoughts of your innate deservingness, compassion, and unity with all of life. The invitation to sit in receptivity and allow oneself to be open to blessings, awe, love, abundance, dreams, and forgiveness is the medicine of this transit.

🗣️ LEARN SANSKRIT
Lila is pronounced lee-lah. Lila in Sanskrit can be loosely translated to “divine play” or having sporty and playful characteristics as opposed to self-conscious or insecure ones. Even though we may not be able to fully capture the deep meaning of this Sanskrit word in our English translation, there is a lot to learn from the concepts behind the word Lila.
MANTRA OF THE WEEK
OM SO HUM
“I am that.”
It means to see yourself as part of the universe or the ultimate reality. As we think about this, we realize that we are all one, that we all came from the same source, and that a part (Ansh) of that source is in all of us. We are all linked together.
"You are me, and I am you." "OM is the sound of the universe." Om Soham: "I am the universe, I am a part of it, and I am linked to the source of all that is."
It's not just a mantra that we need to understand; it's a technique, and chanting "Om So Hum, Om So Hum" for 10 to 15 minutes a day can help us slow down our breathing and balance the flow of our inner energy.
With this magical mantra and a few minutes of meditation, you can feel calm and happy on the inside and out.
