TODAY'S LEARNING
Balance Lower Meridian Centers With Yoga

This is the follow-up to yesterday's email. If you want to learn about the Meridians make sure to read yesterday's edition.

The Liver Meridian

The liver meridians starts from the big toe and travels up the inside of the leg to the actual liver.

It is referred to as the meridian of happiness, and when it is out of balance, symptoms like rage, continual annoyance, or lower back discomfort might appear.

Some poses that target the liver meridian include dragonfly pose (parsva bhuja dandasana) and frog pose (mandukasana).

A Meridian for the Gallbladder

The big toes are where this meridian stops after branching into two lines that drop along the side of the body. It begins at the outer edge of the eye.

It is referred to be the meridian of worship and when it is out of harmony, it might lead to headaches or hesitation. It offers a sense of patience and sound judgment when it is in harmony.

Poses that target the gall bladder meridian include butterfly pose (baddha konasana) and happy baby pose (ananda balasana).

The Kidney Meridian

This kidney meridian is known as the creativity meridian and begins at the pinky toe. After then, it travels along the inner thigh's pathway until coming to an end at the tongue.

When this meridian is out of balance, emotional problems like anxiety take place along with physical effects on the urinary organs. Certainty and the creative outpouring of life force energy are there when it is in harmony.

Poses that target the kidney meridian include dragon pose and squat pose.

The Urinary Bladder Meridian

The urinary bladder meridian is the meridian of peace. It starts at the eye, travels up the head, crosses the back of the body, and eventually ends in the pinky toe.

One may experience agitation and urinary issues when it is out of balance.

Poses to include here are caterpillar pose and snail pose.

Spleen Meridian

The spleen meridian starts at the big toe and travels up the inner thigh before cutting through the middle of the body and ending at the tongue and heart.

It is the confidence meridian. When one feels rejected or careless, this meridian is not functioning versus feeling grounded in your being.

Saddle pose and cat pulling its tail pose are two examples of poses that target the spleen meridian.

Stomach Meridian

Beginning at the side of the nose, the stomach meridian snakes along the face and down into the crotch before branching off and finishing at the third toe.

The satisfaction meridian is located there. When out of balance, one may suffer bloating and gas, along with greed and uncertainty. One feels content when it is in balance.

Practice the sphinx and seal poses for the stomach meridians.

POSITIVE NEWS OF THE DAY

Researchers have found a 'jaw-dropping' subterranean carbon sink made solely of mushrooms that absorbs more than a third of the world's CO2 emissions annually, which is equivalent to China's entire annual output.

Mycorrhizal fungal networks are the "most effective carbon capture storage unit in the world," according to specialists at the University of Sheffield in the UK, who oversaw the study. They can store 13 gigatons of CO2.

Researchers argued that soil ecosystems should be protected and that fungus deserve a higher place in conservation efforts.

Prof. Katie Field, a co-author of the paper, noted that mycorrhizal fungus "represent a blind spot in carbon modelling, conservation, and restoration." "The figures we found are astounding. We should consider what we can use that is already in place when considering climate change solutions.
