Balance Upper Meridian Centers
The Heart Meridian
The heart meridian, also referred to as the meridian of forgiveness, starts exactly where it says it will: in the center. The pinky finger is where it branches downward, up the throat, and lastly across the chest.
Insecurity, hate, heart palpitations, and insomnia can all be symptoms of this problem. One senses love, joy, self-worth, and empathy when things are balanced.
Poses for the heart meridian include melting heart pose (uttana shishosana) and reclined butterfly (supta baddha konasana).
Small Intestine Meridian
This meridian is called the meridian of joy. It starts at the pinky finger, moves up the arm, branches off to travel up the neck, and finally travels down into the small intestine.
When out of balance, it may present as neck ache, melancholy, or grief.
Poses to help balance the small intestine meridian include thread the needle pose (parsva balasana) and open wing pose.
Lung Meridian
The lung meridian begins above the navel, travels around the abdominal organs, ascends via the lungs and throat, and then exits through the arm and into the thumb and index finger.
It is known as the humility meridian. It can manifest in respiratory disorders, such as asthma or coughing along with a false sense of pride or depression.
Poses to bring more tolerance and humility include banana pose and melting heart pose.
Large Intestine Meridian
This meridian, known as the self-esteem meridian, extends from the index finger, along the arm, and into the large intestines, with a branch continuing upward into the head.
This meridian is all about self-worth and feelings of guilt and apathy can run rampant when out of balance.
Try the thread-the-needle or twisted roots postures to rekindle your excitement.
The Pericardium Meridian
This meridian starts in the chest and connects to the pericardium, the sac that surrounds the heart. It then goes from the chest outward, down the arm, and to the ring finger.
It induces emotions of relaxation and calmness and is known as the meridian of generosity. Poor circulation, jealousy, and regret can all be symptoms.
To balance this meridian, practice open wing pose and supported bridge pose.

FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Ayurveda Summer Recipes: Cooling Peppermint Cucumber Popsicles
Ever hear the phrase, "cool as a cucumber"? Honeydew and cucumber cool your blood and offer a refreshing reprieve from the heat. As it cools, cucumber also detoxifies your blood and relieves stress.
Summer heat makes your heart beat fast & heavy. With so much overheated blood, you'll notice the tip of your tongue turns red. The excessive blood flow aggravates your liver, and could cause your temper to flare.
Honeydew and cucumber refresh your body in summertime. They cool your blood, soothe your liver and calm your temper. Mint is a perky addition that cools you down by helping you perspire.
Ingredients
1 c CUCUMBER
4 c HONEY DEW
2 tbsp MINT
Instructions
Use a very ripe honeydew for the best flavor.
1. Slice the melon in half. Scoop out seeds. Cut into quarters and remove the skin with a knife, keeping all the juices.
2. Chop cucumber and fresh mint.
3. Puree until smooth in a blender.
4. Pour into the desired mold, and freeze overnight.
According to the science of traditional food combining, cucumber & melons should not be eaten together. By pureeing in a blender, the qualities of the melon and cucumber are fused into a digestible compound.

About: In The Way of Integrity, Beck presents a four-stage process that anyone can use to find integrity, and with it, a sense of purpose, emotional healing, and a life free of mental suffering. Much of what plagues us-people pleasing, staying in stale relationships, negative habits-all point to what happens when we are out of touch with what truly makes us feel whole.
Inspired by The Divine Comedy, Beck uses Dante's classic hero's journey as a framework to break down the process of attaining personal integrity into small, manageable steps. She shows how to read our internal signals that lead us towards our true path, and to recognize what we actually yearn for versus what our culture sells us.
