TODAY'S LEARNINGThe Doshas & The Yogi Routine
Different doshas are more prevalent throughout the day, and Ayurveda has an ideal daily routine that you can follow that has a balance of rest and activity in accordance with the dosha clock.
According to the dosha clock:
Vata is most predominant between two and six both morning and evening.
Kapha energy is most active between six and 10 morning and evening.
Pitta dosha is strongest between 10 and two during the middle of the day and then again during the middle of the night.
You can respect your body's circadian rhythm by adhering to the dosha clock and making an effort to maintain a consistent routine every day.
The Perfect Daily Schedule
1. Awaken prior to 6:00 AM
It is best to get up before 6:00 AM so that you can carry the vitality and movement of Vata energy with you throughout the day if you want to feel energetic. When you awake after 6:00 AM during Kapha time, you may feel lethargic and slow throughout the day as Kapha can be heavy and weigh you down.
This implies that on the weekends you should also get up before 6:00 AM.
The morning routine is the most important part as it sets the tone for the entire day. When you stand up, you should empty your bladder and bowels. Following that, brush your teeth and clean your tongue. If you are primarily Pitta dosha, you should then sip on a glass of hot water with lemon or just hot water.
2. Abhyanga for 20 to 30 minutes
Next up is Abhyanga. Oil massage is known as abhyanga, and Ayurveda advises self-massage each morning. Massage the soles of your feet, your head, and your entire body.
If you can, allow yourself to leave the oil on for about 20 or 30 minutes before taking a warm bath or shower.
It is advised to practice yoga after taking a shower and some breathing exercises, such as pranayama. You could also use this time to do something that is geared toward your personal growth, like meditate, write in a journal, or work out.
3. Eat a Light Breakfast
The next step is to eat breakfast. According to Ayurveda, breakfast is the meal that ignites your digestive fire. It is therefore best to eat a light breakfast before beginning the rest of your day.
4. Make Lunch the Largest Meal of the Day
Then, around midday is when you want to have lunch, which should be your largest meal of the day. Pitta is at its peak when the digestive fire is also at its peak, so this is the ideal time to eat a substantial, nutrient-dense meal.
It is best to take a short break after lunch, even if that means sitting down for ten minutes to relax before continuing with your day.
5. A quick dinner and stroll
You should eat a smaller dinner in the evening and then go for a quick walk to help with digestion. You should unwind after dinner before going to bed.
6. Get to bed by 10:00 p.m.
While you are in the Kapha time of the day, bedtime should ideally be earlier than 10:00PM. Staying up past 10:00 PM puts you in Pitta time and could give you your second wind of energy, neither of which encourages sound sleep.
For optimal balance, your daily routine should have a consistent basic structure every day of the week, even on days when you don't have classes or work.
Along with meal and snack times, wake up and go to bed times should remain constant. Routine is ideal for the Vata dosha, and when Vata is content, the other doshas are also more likely to be.

1/2 tsp CORIANDER SEED
1 c FENNEL STALK
1/2 c PUMPKIN SEEDS

2. Toast the pumpkin seeds on medium heat in a skillet stirring frequently until they begin to brown. Set aside.
