When a master is getting old, he had to choose a new head of the temple out of his three top students.

The master asked the question: “What is emptiness?”

First student said: “Everything is empty, nothing is real.”

The Master hit him on his head with a broom with force, the student jumped back, covering his head, asked: “why, Master, it hurts a lot”.

The Master said: “If nothing is real, who is hurting.”

The second student said: “Emptiness is form, form is emptiness, emptiness is not form, form is not emptiness, that is it!”.

The Master said: “Good.”

Now, everyone is waiting for the last student. He has been sitting there with his eyes half closed since Master asked the question, after a minute, everyone was getting impatient, suddenly, he looked up to his master calmly without saying anything.

The third student became the new Master.
