LEARN TODAY:
4 Signs You Are Healing From Trauma

  1. You Begin Feeling Your Emotions (Rather Than Minimizing Them)

You give in to your tears (tears are a soul's shower).

Rather than attempting to control or eliminate your emotions, you give them more meaning and understanding.

Anger begins dissipating and decreasing (turns out sadness, loneliness, confusion, helplessness, and pain were underneath)

  1. Practicing Living Mindfully (Rather Than Mindlessly)

You approach things with intention and worth rather than with the intention of distracting, numbing, or keeping occupied.

You ask yourself questions like:

"What does my body require to rest and heal itself right now?"

"If I truly listen to myself, do I really want to take on this project right now?"

"What would actually happen if I told people no and disappointed them?"

You start talking to yourself in ways like:

“I wonder what’s really going on underneath my need to please others right now.”

“This is really interesting. This pattern keeps happening over and over. Let me pause and reflect on this right now.”

”It’s okay for me to make mistakes. I’m not my mistake. I can learn from this.”

"I don't have to know the solutions to every problem."

"I'm extremely worn out and exhausted. I might say no to that invitation tonight.”

”I really enjoy spending time by myself on the weekends. I want to do this more often.”

”I really enjoy spending time with other people on the weekends. I want to do this more often.”

  1. Your Body Releases Tension & Trauma

You experience fewer somatic problems (fatigue, stress, headaches, and migraines).

You are learning to create a sense of safety within your body, which causes your body to soften and relax.

You're more receptive to other people's touches, such as hugs and embraces (especially those you care about and trust)

You understand somatization: that some of your physical symptoms are a result of mental health or psychological issues (e.g. trauma, depression, anxiety)

  1. You Reach Out More For Support and ask For Help (Rather Than Isolating)

You slowly allow more people into your emotional inner life (your walls starts falling down)

You begin asking for your needs and wants (rather than assuming others can read your mind)

You begin understanding your needs and wants (rather than focusing on others’ needs and wants)

Perhaps you share more vulnerable parts of yourself with others

You allow others to see you cry, frustrated, sad, grieving, and helpless (humanizing yourself as perfection doesn’t exist)

You begin to shift the core belief of self-reliance into interdependence, community, and connection (it’s nice to spend time with certain people rather than being alone all the time)

This certainly is not an exhaustive list of what to expect when healing from trauma. Know that your journey is unique to you, your identities, and your experiences.

POSITIVE NEWS OF THE DAY

Portugal Runs on 100% Renewables Dropping Consumer Electric Bills to Nearly Zero for 6 Days in a Row…

Sunny, windy, wavy, and small, Portugal is uniquely suited to renewable energy; which it just proved by powering the nation of 10 million entirely with the forces of nature for 6 straight days.

It all started on Friday the 27th of October when the largest energy company in the nation, Redes Energéticas Nacionais, reported that conditions of wind and waves were generating the entirety of the nation’s energy supply.

They predicted the conditions would carry on through Saturday, but they actually kept on going for the next 5 days, including some periods when the nation’s grid was exporting renewable electricity to the grids in Spain.

Boat Pose (Navasana)

What is Boat Pose?

Boat pose, or navasana, is a seated yoga asana that requires core strength to hold the body in a "V" shape. Navasana forms part of the primary series of Ashtanga yoga and is popular in a range of styles of yoga because of its physical and mental benefits.

Instructions

  • Sit with your legs straight ahead.

  • Lift through the sternum and lean back slightly while engaging your abdomen.

  • Draw your knees in toward your chest, balancing on your sit bones.

  • Then slowly lengthen your legs until you are resting on your sit bones and your body makes a "V" shape.

  • Lengthen your arms ahead of you until your arms are straight and parallel to the floor.
