TODAY'S LEARNINGHolistic Beauty
It's fascinating to consider a period when beauty was defined holistically rather than being frequently associated with particular societal standards and norms. In India, the idea of beauty has been about much more than just how someone looks for thousands of years.
The three beauty pillars
Ayurveda says that there are three things that make a person beautiful:
Roopam, which means "outward beauty," is symbolized by shiny, healthy hair and a clear, glowing skin.
Gunam, which means "inner beauty" or "beauty that comes from within," is a warm, friendly personality and a pure mind and heart.
Vayastyag, which means "lasting beauty," is looking and feeling younger than your actual age.
Roopam doesn't say anything about body type, skin color, or hair length. Outer beauty is just a sign of good health, which means good digestion, healthy eating habits, and a balanced way of life.
Diet and digestion are key
As the saying goes, you are what you eat. Ayurveda takes the old adage a step further and adds, "you are what you digest." A radiant, clear complexion begins with proper nutrition, efficient digestion, and assimilation of nutrients by the body, as well as regular elimination.
Don't skimp on sleep
"Early to bed and early to rise" is one of the simplest and easiest ways to promote and retain natural beauty. Lack of sleep makes your skin look dull and gives you dark circles under your eyes.
Ayurvedic experts also say that a good night's sleep is one of the most important parts of good health, because that's when the body naturally detoxes and heals itself.
Daily massage
Self-massage, or Abhyanga, is a simple way to feel pampered and calm while giving your skin a deep nourishment. This ancient Ayurvedic practice feeds the seven layers of skin and seven types of body tissue.
Meditation can help you handle stress.
Ayurvedic beauty is built on eating well and getting enough sleep, but there are other things that are also important. Stress management is critical. Anything you can do to keep your mind and feelings in balance will show in the way you look.

TODAY'S POSITIVE NEWS
People all over the world are thanking a woman from Michigan for being honest when she turned in almost $15,000 in cash she found at a gas station.
It turned out to have been gifts from guests to a couple who had just gotten married. The couple was blown away by her honesty.
Since her Jeep broke down and she didn't have enough money to fix it, 65-year-old Dianne Gordon has been walking 2.7 miles each way to and from her job behind a deli counter. One day, she stopped at a gas station to get a snack. While there, she saw a plastic bag. There was a lot of money inside, and when she turned it over, there were greeting cards.
The grandmother of two called the police because that's what she "was taught to do." The police sent an officer to take the money.
Gordon could have gone to any dealership in the state and bought a car that day, but she knew it wasn't right to do so because the money wasn't hers.

YOGAPEDIAYoga Flow For Energy
Yoga postures are the most inexpensive source of bringing deep relaxation and rejuvenation to the body. One might feel enervated after sitting for long hours or shuffling between different tasks. Yoga increases 'prana' or life force energy in the body by removing blockages along the spinal cord and smoothening the energy flow.
Enhance your body's energy levels by practicing these simple yoga postures and feel the difference for yourself:
Veerabhadrasana (Warrior pose): Named after Veerabhadra, a fierce warrior and an incarnation of Lord Shiva, this yoga posture strengthens and tones the arms, legs and lower back. It is highly beneficial for people with sedentary jobs.
Utkatasana (Chair pose): Sitting in a chair may sound very easy and comfortable but sitting in an imaginary chair might be a little challenging! This yoga posture unblocks energy centers, exercises the spine, hips and chest muscles. It helps strengthen the lower back and torso.
Setu Bandhasana (Bridge pose): Bridge pose helps you unblock the flow of energy along the spinal cord. This yoga posture also strengthens the back muscles and relieves the tired back instantaneously. It stretches the chest, neck and spine; and also calms the brain, reduces anxiety, stress and depression.
Shalabhasana (Locust Posture): The Locust pose adds agility to the body and also increases flexibility and strength of the entire back, shoulders and arms. This yoga posture also massages and tones abdominal organs while improving digestion too.
Makara Adho Mukha Svanasana (Dolphin Plank pose): Makara Adho Mukha Svanasana is a rejuvenating yoga posture that helps tone the abdominal muscles. It effectively relives the body of headache, fatigue and backache. It also strengthens the arms and legs while toning the abdominal muscles and relieving the body of menstrual discomfort.
Nadi Shodhan Pranayama (Alternate Nostril Breathing): The region between the eyebrows is the place where all the nadis meet. Activating the energy centers from this region is one of the easiest, subtle and profound ways to energize the body and calm the mind. This technique works therapeutically for most circulatory and respiratory problems and harmonizes the left and right hemispheres of the brain. It also rids the body of any accumulated stress.
