TODAY'S LEARNINGMOKSHA: Free Your Soul
Indian philosophy is centered on the principle of moksha, also known as mukti. The Sanskrit word moksha means "liberation, freedom, emancipation, or bliss." It is a state of non-ego in which the ahamkara or "I-maker" disappears and one is completely one with themselves, free from all desires, actions, and consequences.
We are tied to this physical world by attachment, desire, and our inability to recognize or feel the interconnectedness of all life. According to the early yogis, this bondage is the main cause of suffering in human existence. The road to self-realization and freedom from suffering is called moksha. One can access transcendental planes of existence and a profound state of bliss by following this path to liberation.
Moksha is not a location; neither does it exist in the heavens, the earth, nor the afterlife. This ultimate state of freedom can only exist in the here and now, in the present moment, and has no boundaries in terms of time, space, or place. Moksha is a process that starts when someone realizes who they really are; it's not a destination.
How To Achieve Moksha?
Moksha requires the letting go of Maya, the dissolution of anava (ego), and the separating of our attachments to pleasure and aversions to discomfort. The five kleshas or negative mental patterns must be removed. It is necessary to cultivate the yogic virtues of sraddha (faith), virya (strength), maitri (friendship), karuna (compassion), mudita (joy), upekshanam (calmness), and prajna (wisdom). The foundation for all of this spiritual work will be a firm commitment to the yamas and niyamas of yoga.
When we lose ourselves entirely in the sensation of an experience without thinking, moksha spontaneously manifests. This brief but common "taste" of total absorption. We aim to build the tools necessary to consciously and willfully "pierce the veil" of Maya and see the transcendent nature of reality through the practice of yoga. These methods include karma yoga (selfless action), bhakti yoga (self-dissolving love), jnana yoga (absolute understanding), and raja yoga (meditative immersion).
The process of jnana (knowledge) and bhakti (devotion) is the easiest way to reach the goal of moksha. We learn more about ourselves and the nature of reality as a result of knowledge. We then establish a close relationship with God through love and devotion. Through this connection, we are able to transcend Maya's restrictions and understand the true nature of reality as well as who we truly are.

FOOD FOR THE SOULAyurveda Recipes: Coconut Beet Soup
To all people who don't like beets: they get sweeter the longer you cook them. I add a dash of turbinado or raw sugar to help them along. Coconut also cuts the bitterness and adds a smooth, rich flavor. Pungent ginger complements and freshens the heaviness of coconut.
Great for building rakta dhatu because it is high in fiber and fats.
Ingredients
1 c BEETS
1/4 tsp BLACK PEPPER
1/4 c COCONUT FLAKES
2 tbsp COCONUT OIL
1/2 inch GINGER (FRESH)
1/4 tsp SALT (SEA SALT)
Instructions
Chop the beets and puree with equal quantity water in a blender. Add all ingredients into a pot and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for a half hour.
BOOK OF THE DAY
There is nothing more essential to our health and well-being than breathing: take air in, let it out, repeat 25,000 times a day. However, humans as a species have lost the ability to breathe properly, which has serious repercussions.
James Nestor, a journalist, explores the globe to determine what went wrong and how to fix it. As we might anticipate, the answers are not to be found in pulmonology labs, but rather in the muddy excavations of ancient burial grounds, top-secret Soviet facilities, choir schools in New Jersey, and the smoggy streets of Sao Paulo. In order to put long-held notions about how we breathe to the test scientifically, Nestor tracks down individuals investigating the hidden science behind traditional breathing techniques like Pranayama, Sudarshan Kriya, and Tummo. He also works with pulmonary tinkerers.
Inhaling and exhaling more deliberately can improve athletic performance, revitalize internal organs, stop snoring, allergies, asthma, and autoimmune disease, and even straighten scoliotic spines, according to recent research. None of this should be possible, and yet it is.
