TODAY'S LEARNINGUdgeeth Pranayama: The Om Breathing
For thousands of years, yogis have employed the chanting of the sacred Om sound to induce meditation and foster a sense of spiritual connectedness. The Om or Aum mantra serves as the focal point of the ancient breathing practice known as Udgeeth pranayama. It is also known as the chanting breath and is one of the most basic pranayama breathing techniques. This simple yet effective technique aids in mental clarity, the elimination of unfavorable ideas, stress reduction, better sleep, increased energy, lowered blood pressure, and immune system stimulation.
What is Udgeeth Pranayama? The words udgeeth and pranayama both mean "breathing exercises" or "mastery of breath and energy," respectively. Udgeeth pranayama is a breathing technique that uses the Om mantra spoken continuously. Its name derives from the term "udgitha," which is used to characterize one of the first yogic writings, the Chandogya Upanishad. This verse describes udgitha as the recitation of the Om mantra. The most effective technique to apply the mantra is to repeat Om in a deep rhythmic manner while consciously controlling your breathing, according to this passage.
Udgeeth's directions for pranayama
The six steps of chanting breathing are listed below. You may perform this pranayama 1-2 times per day for 2-10 minutes each time.
Sit steadily and comfortably, keeping your spine long and straight. If you're sitting on the floor, you may support your back by placing a cushion or folded blanket beneath your hips. Make sure both feet are flat on the ground if you are sitting in a chair.
Start breathing deeply through your nose while you close your eyes or relax your focus. Bring your focus to your breath while allowing your body to unwind. Check to see whether your face, neck, or shoulders are tense.
To ensure that just the belly rises and falls with the breath, concentrate on diaphragmatic breathing. As you breathe out, start saying the mantra Om.
Practice holding your breath for as long as you can without pushing. Permit the sound to be produced by the breath.
Concentrate on the sound's vibration and the feel of your breath while you chant Om. Try adjusting the volume so that you can maintain your concentration on the exercise.
Keep your breathing calm and your mind concentrated while you recite the mantra. To help you process your experience, pause after the practice.
WEEKLY ASTROLOGY
When the Sun lines up with a planet, this is called a "Cazimi," which comes from the Arabic word for "in the heart of the Sun." A cazimi is a rare moment in time that draws attention to a planet's main energies.
People think that Jupiter cazimi is the best of these pairings. Jupiter is often called the planet of growth because it brings growth wherever it goes. It brings good luck, abundance, and opportunities. When it makes its yearly link with the Sun, which will happen this year on April 11, these energies get stronger. Jupiter's waves are amplified by the Sun, which sends them out through its rays.
On April 11, Venus will move into Gemini. When she does, the mood will be light and fun. Venus in Gemini shows us that beauty, worth, and connections can be found in many different places, spaces, and minds. It's also a good time to explore a wide range of art forms, local groups, and organizations, books, art, theater, or natural places with a sense of freedom. Let it be fun.

Prajna, in Buddhism, is the highest comprehension of the true character of presence and reality. Prajna is a state of individual consciousness that encompasses worldly concepts or belief systems that might obstruct perfect wisdom; it is a Sanskrit word derived from the word pra, meaning "beginning" or "premium," and jna, meaning "consciousness" or "understanding." To achieve enlightenment is regarded as direct foresight into the truth learned from the Buddha's teachings. Many people engage in asanas and meditation as part of spiritual yoga practice to reflect inward and progress toward prajna.

BOOK OF THE DAY
Western culture is steeped in individualism, the worldview that encourages you to pursue individual happiness and prizes personal freedom as the highest societal good. But cultural critic David Brooks says that this individualist outlook makes people selfish and takes away from the meaning of life. So, he says, if you want to live a truly satisfying life, you should accept relationalism, a worldview that puts selflessness and service to others first.
In his 2019 book, The Second Mountain, Brooks uses examples from his own life to show why the relationalist way of living is more enjoyable than the individualist way. Along the way, he talks about the four commitments that are important to relationalism: your job, your marriage, your community, and your beliefs. He also gives you steps you can take to make these commitments. All Karma Gaia Readers Can Try Out The Book Today For Free with Shortform!
