TODAY'S LEARNING
Heart Chakra Opening Mantra

We have seven energy centers that align our spine and head, and when opened up, allow for a vastly expansive human experience. Sanskrit refers to the heart chakra as anahata, and it is associated with human compassion and connection.

Engaging in this body's energy center can help us heal our own sadness and grief while also allowing us to experience intense love.

This specific mantra is frequently used as part of Kundalini yoga, a practice that promotes the opening of our chakras and the rising of the energy from our spine to our head, which opens all of the energy centers in our bodies and helps us connect with the Divine.

What “Ong So Hung” Means

This mantra's meaning is also straightforward but incredibly complex. It could almost be considered onomatopoeic in that the openness and meditative qualities are inherent in the sounds of this mantra. It seems to mean what it says!

You can break down the components of this mantra into the following translations:

Ong, also known as God's creative consciousness

So hung — I am that Ong so hung can be interpreted as to say “I am one with God, the creative consciousness.”

Note: This mantra is unique in that it uses a different version of the common mantra om, instead of pronouncing it as ong. In order to activate our experience, this slight alteration in such a widely used Sanskrit word presses on receptors in the back of the mouth and modifies our breathing.

Benefits

Sanskrit mantra chanting is always effective, but ong so hung is special in how it affects the energy in our bodies. In other words, it is not just a mantra for your mind, but the energy that is contained in our whole bodies.

The mantra "ong so hung" is said to deepen your experience and enlarge your awareness by engaging your body's heart center. The expanded awareness you can create with this mantra opens us up for a deepening in our human experience.

Your physical heart chakra is closely linked to both your mental and physical experiences of compassion, as well as to your own spiritual development.

FOOD FOR THE SOUL
Ayurveda Summer Recipes: GREENS & FRESH HERB FRITTATA

Savory, aromatic, and light, the Greens & Fresh Herb Frittata is a rustically nourishing way to begin your morning. Transport yourself to a wide, tiled-floor kitchen overlooking lush Italian countryside as you dig into this hearty, yet light dish. Bright, fresh herbs awaken your sleepy cells as eggs provide the energy you need to make it through a busy day. Deceivingly simple, a frittata gives the impression that you spent the morning slaving away in the kitchen. We won't tell how easy it was if you won't!

Ingredients

1/4 tsp BLACK PEPPER

6 whole EGGS

1/2 tsp OREGANO

1 tsp PARSLEY (FRESH)

1/4 tsp SALT (MINERAL SALT)

1/4 lbs SPINACH

1 tsp THYME (FRESH)

Instructions

The idea behind a frittata is that the edge should be roasted while the center fully cooked but not too dry. To accomplish this, sear the eggs in a hot frying pan then place in the oven.

Preheat oven to 350.

Step 1: Cook spinach on high heat until wilted and water boiled off.

Step 2: Crack eggs into a large mixing bowl. Beat the egg mixture vigorously to whip air into it, which will create a fluffier product.

Step 3: Chop spices. Fold spinach, spices, and all ingredients gently into the egg mixture.

Step 4: Heat a well greased cast iron skillet until a drop of water dances on the surface. The pan should be hot enough so that the egg sizzles immediately upon contact. Add the egg mixture. Immediately place in preheated the oven.

Bake twenty minutes or until egg begins to brown.
