THE WEEKEND POSITIVE NEWS ROUNDUP1. Europe got its first wild river national park...
People call it "Europe's last wild river," and the Albanian government made the Vjosa and its main branches a national park this week to keep it that way. It is the first river on the continent to get this kind of rank.
The Vjosa flows freely for 170 miles through Albania and into the Adriatic Sea. It is home to many threatened species, such as the European eel, Egyptian vulture, and Balkan lynx. There were plans to stop the river, which would have been terrible for wildlife. Being a national park saves it from such changes, which is a win for the people who worked hard to protect it.
At a gathering to mark the event, Albania's tourist minister Mirela Kumbaro Furxhi said, "Albania may not be able to change the world, but it can show how to protect biodiversity and natural assets in a way that works."
The International Union for Conservation of Nature called the move "a turning point for the people of Albania and its biodiversity."
2. South Korea says no to longer working hours...
The Guardian says that young protesters in South Korea have made the government rethink its plans to make the work week longer.
In a country that was already known for having hard work hours, the government wanted to raise the maximum workweek from 52 hours to 69 hours. But the plan is being looked at again after young protesters said it would make it hard for them to balance their lives.
The strategy goes against the growing trend for people to work less during the week. There have been studies of four-day work weeks in a number of countries, including the UK, where the biggest test of its kind was deemed a win-win for both employees and their bosses.
3. Dementia risk lower with the Mediterranean diet - study...
This week, a study linked the Mediterranean diet to a lower chance of dementia, which made it even more popular than it already was.
Researchers found that people who ate a Mediterranean diet full of seafood, whole grains, fruits, nuts, veggies, and olive oil were 23% less likely to get the disease than those who didn't eat that way.
The study was based on information from 60,000 people that were taken from a medical database called UK Biobank. Scientists are working hard to find ways to treat dementia, which is expected to affect 1.5 million people in the UK alone by 2040. The study's results come at a time when they are doing this.
There is more and more proof that the Mediterranean diet is good for your health. For example, many studies have shown that it can improve heart health, slow aging, and even speed up the healing process after cancer.
4. Good news for Indian Lions...
The only place outside of Africa where you can hear a lion roar in its natural environment is in the Indian state of Gujarat.
Now, because of conservation efforts, the number of these animals has grown so much that the state government will move some of them to a new wildlife sanctuary to give them more space and make sure they keep growing.
Once, the northern lion group ranged from West Africa to India. Several local populations, such as the lost Barbary and Caspian lions and the Asiatic lion in India, had their own genetic traits.
Asiatic cheetahs can only be found in Iran, and India, where the cheetah went extinct, managed to keep the Asiatic lion.
Gir National Park is 544 square miles of land that is perfect for lions. In 2015, there were 523 lions, compared to 411 in 2010 and 359 in 2005. When there are so many lions around, people in other states start to wonder if Gujarat would be willing to share.

YOGAPEDIACrocodile Pose (Makarasana)
Benefits:
Stimulates the internal organs in the stomach, particularly the spleen, liver, urinary bladder, pancreas, and intestines. In this manner, it may boost their functioning and help them release toxin buildup.
Relaxes the muscular system, bringing a sense of calm and allowing both the circulatory and the respiratory systems a chance to relax.
How To:
1.If you’re doing Crocodile Pose as a transitional posture, you may start anywhere where you feel like it would suit you. Otherwise, begin sitting on your knees in the Thunderbolt pose.
2. Place your hands in front of you and your legs back behind you, and lower your entire body to the ground, starting with your legs.
3. Instead of resting your arms at your sides, bring them to the front of the mat and grab opposite elbows below your head, so you can rest your forehead on your arms. You can also keep your head slightly above the arms if you want the pose to be more active.
4. Hold for as long as comfortable, at least 5 deep breaths. Then push your palms into the floor and come back to Child’s Pose, then raise back to sitting on your knees.

Guggulu resin (Commiphora mukul) is prized in Ayurveda for its deeply penetrating action and unique ability to scrape away naturally accumulating toxins from the body channels.
