THE WEEKEND POSITIVE NEWS ROUNDUP1. 90-Year-old Tortoise Becomes a Father For the First Time...

Mr. Pickles, a radiated turtle who is 90 years old and the oldest animal at the Houston Zoo, had his first baby last week.

Mr. Pickles and his 53-year-old partner, Mrs. Pickles, took in three hatchlings that could live up to 150 years if they were well cared for.

Officials at the Houston Zoo said that radiated turtles are from southern Madagascar and are Critically Endangered because they rarely have offspring.

2. European cars are going electric...

After the EU affirmed that all new cars sold in the union starting in 2035 must be zero-emissions vehicles, the end is near for smut-belching vehicles in Europe.

Some activists were upset by the EU's decision as it gave Germany special treatment because it had successfully asked for e-fuel cars to be excluded. E-fuels aren't available on a large scale, and it's not clear how eco-friendly they are.

Even so, when it goes into effect, it's going to have a big effect. The European Commission says that private cars and vans are responsible for about 12% and 2.5% of all EU pollution, respectively.

3. Cheetahs are back in India...

The cheetah has returned to India and is having cubs again. This week, four cubs were born in Kuno national park, where big cats were brought back from Africa only a few months ago.

The cheetah went extinct in India more than 70 years ago because of hunting and lack of territory. Many people have been glad to see them come back. Last year, eight of the animals came from Namibia, and another 12 came from South Africa in February.

A lot of people have strong opinions about the trial return plan. Some experts are worried that the number of cheetahs that Kuno can hold has been overestimated. Scientists who back the idea have said that these claims are not true.

4. NYC Ride Sharing Zero Emission by 2030

New York City has mandated that ride-sharing vehicles operated through platforms such as Uber and Lyft be completely zero emissions by 2030.

In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the NYC EV Rideshare program wants to protect public health in the city and cut down on deaths caused by pollution. Drivers may have a hard time if they have to spend a lot of money on electric cars and charge them at home.

If a ride-share driver buys an electric vehicle (EV), the government may give them money to help cover some of the costs of the car and the charger. This is good for people who want to save money on gas and help the environment at the same time.

YOGAPEDIAShoulder Pressing Pose (Bhujapidasana)

Benefits:

Traditionally, Bhujapidasana (Shoulder Pressing Posture) is believed to activate the third, or Manipura chakra. The arms and wrists are strengthened by the practice of Bhujapidasana (Shoulder Press Pose), just as the abdominal muscles are strengthened due to the contraction of the abdomen. The body will feel lighter.

How To:

Stand in Tadasana (Mountain Pose) and spread your legs until the feet are about two feet apart.

Lean forward and bend your knees. Place your palms on the floor at a distance of about one and a half feet between your feet.

Rest the back of your thighs on the back of your upper arms. Rest your thighs between your shoulders and elbows in the middle of your upper arms.

Keeping your thighs in this position, initially lift your heels off the floor.

Exhale, slowly lift your toes off the floor one by one, balancing on the hands and then interlocking the feet at your ankles.

In the beginning, your feet will slide down and it will be difficult to balance. To secure balance, try to keep the back of your thighs on your upper arms as high as you can. Your arms will be slightly bent at your elbows. Try to extend your arms as far as possible and raise your head.

Remain in this position with normal breathing until your wrists can bear the weight of your body. Then release your feet while taking your feet back one by one and then rest them on the floor. Raise your hands off the floor and stand in Tadasana (Mountain Pose).

Repeat the process by changing the position of your fused ankles. If, previously, you placed the right foot on top of the left foot at the ankle, repeat the process by placing the left foot on top of the right foot at the ankle.
