THE WEEKEND POSITIVE NEWS ROUNDUP1.  The renewables race stepped up a gear...

It looks like the world is in the middle of a race to speed up renewable energy.

The Times says that the EU has made plans for a multibillion-euro package of state subsidies for companies that make green energy and electric cars.

The move is a response to the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which was passed last year. The $369 billion (£298 billion) climate, health care, and tax stimulus plan gives renewable energy companies big tax breaks and has set off a race around the world to attract green investment.

Based on what we know so far, the IRA could reduce US emissions by up to 44% this decade.

2. Photo goes viral after Delta Air Lines attendant comforts woman on Charlotte flight...

Everyone has their fears, like spiders, elevators, or being alone. One Delta Airlines passenger, however, was afraid of flying.

Molly Simonson Lee was on a flight from Charlotte, near her home in Raleigh, North Carolina, to New York. A passenger in front of her made it clear that they did not like flying.

When the scared woman started crying, a flight attendant sat down next to her and told her he would be there for her every step of the way. Lee witnessed a touching act of humanity...

3. Columbia Ends Oil & Gas Projects...

This week, the Colombian government said that it would no longer approve new oil and gas projects. It was the final turning point for fossil fuels in Latin America.

The news was made by Irene Vélez, Colombia's minister for mines, at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Vélez said, "We have decided not to give out any new contracts for oil and gas exploration. This has been very controversial, but it's a clear sign of our commitment to fighting climate change." "This decision is very important and needs to be made right away."

4. Baker Creates Stunning Cakes That are Straight Out of a Cartoon...

A part-time baker makes amazing 2-D cakes that look like cartoon drawings.

After seeing a picture of a cartoon cake online, Amy Bicknell got the idea to make her own.

The first time she tried to make the cake, it was hard because she doesn't usually use fondant icing, which is made of granulated sugar and water. (She preferred to use a ganache made with cream instead.) But her slice cake in an animated style quickly became very popular.

Now, people from all over the world ask the 44-year-old to make cakes for special events like birthdays and even weddings.

A video shows her whole process, from covering the sponge cake with icing and making sure it is perfectly smooth to lining the edges with thin black fondant to make it look like an animated character. Before she cuts into them, many people don't even believe they are cakes.

YOGAPEDIASupine Spinal Twist (Supta Matsyendrasana)

Benefits:Stretches the back muscles, realigns and lengthens the spine, and hydrates the spinal disks.

How To:

Lie on your back with your arms stretched horizontally out to the sides in line with the shoulders. Extend your left leg out in front of you and bend your right knee, hugging it into your chest. Inhale, and on an exhale slowly cross your right knee over your midline and onto the floor on the left side of your body. Turn your head to the right and look at your right palm. Make sure that both of your shoulder blades are touching the ground, even if that means your knee does not fully touch the floor. While twisting, there is a tendency for one shoulder blade to lift off of the ground. Feel the stretch in your thighs, groin, arms, neck, stomach, and back as you hold the pose. With each exhalation, relax deeper into the pose. Hold for several minutes. Slowly turn your head back to the center and straighten your torso and legs. Repeat the pose on your left side.
