The Weekend Positive News Roundup:1. The Ozone Layer Is On Track To Recover
Thanks to efforts around the world to get rid of chemicals that destroy ozone, the ozone layer should be back to normal in about 40 years.
This is what the UN said on Monday when it shared its findings. It said that if things stay the same, the ozone layer will be back to normal in most of the world by 2040. It also said that the polar regions will take about 20 years longer.
The political will that was shown to deal with the depletion of the ozone layer is seen as a good example of how to deal with the climate crisis. In fact, the UN said that if people had worked to fix the ozone layer, it might not have warmed up by 0.5C by 2100.
2. England Confirmed a Ban On Some Plastics
They are only used for minutes, but it takes centuries for them to break down. But plastic plates, plastic cutlery, and polystyrene cups seem to be on their way out in England, where the government has said it will move forward with a ban.
It's a good sign that things are getting better, but some activists are disappointed that there aren't more things on the list. Also, the proposed law seems to only apply to places that sell food to go and not to supermarkets. Critics say that it only touches on a problem that is getting out of hand.
Some single-use plastic items, like cotton buds and straws, have already been banned in England. Scotland and Wales have their own rules about plastic that they have to follow. And France moved forward last week with a law that aims to get rid of fast-food packaging.

YOGAPEDIAQuad-Psoas Wall Stretch
How to do it: Start in a low lunge position with your right foot facing away from the wall and position your left knee where the floor meets the wall, so your left shin and top of the left foot are flat against the wall. (You may want to place a folded blanket under your left knee for padding.) Place your hands on your right knee and push your hips forward away from the wall. Then draw your hips back toward the wall. Slowly repeat 4 to 5 times on each leg.
Why it helps: Some of the tightest muscles in the body are the psoas and the quads. The psoas is also the muscle that lifts your knee when you spring or run, so runners tend to have tight psoas. It must be released for healing to occur.
