THE WEEKEND POSITIVE NEWS ROUNDUP1. Australia is building a marine park the size of Germany...

A week after canceling plans for a coal mine near the Great Barrier Reef, the Australian government said it would make a marine park in the Southern Ocean that would be the size of Germany.

This week, plans were made to triple the size of Macquarie Island marine park. The region is a critical habitat for millions of seabirds, seals and penguins.

Emily Grilly of WWF-Australia said, "This announcement is a big step toward protecting wildlife in the oceans of the southern hemisphere, where climate change could have big effects that could threaten unique species."

In the coming weeks, there will be a meeting to talk about the plans.

2. Smart dog that was lost, rings the doorbell of an animal shelter...

When a dog that had been rescued got lost in her new neighborhood, she knew exactly where to go to get help.

Bailey, a husky-mix that was adopted by a family in Upper El Paso, ran away in January, and the family turned to social media to try to find her.

They got in touch with the El Paso Animal Rescue League, the shelter where they got Bailey from, and they posted pictures of her on Facebook with the news. The post said, "URGENT: This beautiful girl, Bailey, has gotten loose near Mesa and Sunland Park."

But Bailey had a trick up her fur that would make the rescue efforts much easier. She walked ten miles all the way back to the Rescue League in Canutillo and used her nose to ring the doorbell.

At 1:40 AM, the doorbell's surveillance camera took a picture of the smart dog.

3. Women in Spain got the right to menstrual leave...

Spain is the first country in Europe to give women with "incapacitating periods" time off during work.

The groundbreaking bill is part of a bigger law that also makes it free for schools and prisons to give out menstrual products.

Scotland was the first country to give everyone the right to a free period last year.

4. Eco-Friendly tiny homes...

Tiny houses have seen an enormous boom in following over the past few years, as housing prices have skyrocketed and the cost of living has increased steadily.

When many think of tiny living, they immediately think of a house on a trailer chassis.

However, Crossboundaries is expanding how we think about this concept through the creation of Fangsong.

Fangsong is a boat, but not just a boat.

The interior of it would have one thinking they are looking at a luxury apartment facing out onto the water rather than being right on top of the water.

Fully solar-powered and fully functional, this creation by Crossboundaries is reimagining how we could live in the future.

The 50-foot long by 13-foot wide floating home is rather unique in its design.

Functionality is of course, necessary, but the interior design of Fangsong is quite pleasant to look at and experience.
