THE WEEKEND POSITIVE NEWS ROUNDUP1. New Coral Reef Discovered...

In a region devastated by unusual weather four decades ago, ancient coral reefs have been found in the waters off Ecuador's Galapagos Islands.

One of the few remaining reefs was thought to be Wellington reef off the coast of Darwin Island, which was thought to have been virtually destroyed by the 1982–1983 El Nio event. Scientists now have reason to hope that others may have survived after finding vast reefs in the middle of the archipelago.

The reefs were discovered by a team led by marine biologist Dr. Michelle Taylor from the University of Essex in England; they were the first ones to be found in the Galapagos Marine Reserve since it was established in 1998.

Pink octopus, batfish, squat lobsters, and a variety of deep-sea fish, sharks, and rays can all be found there, she added. They are pristine and teeming with life. These recently discovered reefs have the potential to be of global importance. We can keep an eye on them over time to see how their pristine habitats change as a result of the current climate crisis.

2. New reforestation project...

In the Yorkshire Dales, work will start this weekend to reforest a dry glacial valley and create one of England's largest native woodlands.

To plant 100,000 saplings over 291 hectares (719 acres) in Snaizeholme, The Woodland Trust is raising £8 million. The Dales currently have 5% tree cover, according to the trust, and the landscape is "crying out" for more. Just 1% of the park is made up of ancient woodland.

For endangered species like the red squirrel (pictured) and black grouse, the project will provide habitat. Al Nash, the manager of the Woodland Trust estate, stated: "The work we do here will restore an entire ecosystem, lock away carbon for years to come, and help improve water quality and mitigate flooding in the area."

3. Earning gap...

According to a new study, husbands and wives are equally the primary breadwinners in an increasing number of US marriages.

According to the Pew Research Center, women's financial contributions have increased steadily over the past 50 years, and in that time, the percentage of wives who earn at least as much as their husbands has tripled.

LEARN SANSKRITSamadhi (sum -ah -thee)

According to Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, samadhi is the eighth and final stage of the yoga path. The term comes from several Sanskrit roots, including sam, which means "together" or "completely," a, which means "toward," and dhe, which means "put." The word samadhi has been translated as "enlightenment," "liberation," or even "bliss." Samadhi is regarded as the highest level of all intellectual and spiritual endeavors in both Hinduism and Buddhism. It is also a requirement for achieving samsara (release from the cycle of death and rebirth). According to yoga, it is the point at which a person's consciousness merges with all consciousness. Samadhi has a profound spiritual meaning because it encompasses self-realization and represents the closest possible relationship with the Divine.

BOOK OF THE DAY

Gin Stephens explains how intermittent fasting (IF) can aid in weight loss, better health, the prevention of disease, and a longer lifespan in her book Fast. Feast. Repeat. Stephens explains how to implement intermittent fasting as a sustainable, adaptable lifestyle choice and deconstructs the cutting-edge science that backs it as a potent practice for overall health.

After Stephens, a former teacher, used intermittent fasting to lose more than 80 pounds, she started online support groups to help others try IF. She then quickly self-published her first IF book, Delay, Don't Deny, and her second, Fast. Feast, Repeat. You'll discover why fasting outperforms conventional dieting in our guide, as well as how to think like an intermittent faster, fast and eat for your particular body type, and follow a four-week quickstart program to get used to this new way of life.
