TODAY'S LEARNING
The Power Of Mudras

“When reflex points of the fingertip are pressed, these healing substances are released and one can rebalance any diseased area of the body.” ~ The Healing Art of Mudras, Deborah Nasca

Mudras are basic finger and hand formations or hand movements that, when sustained for long periods of time while maintaining concentration, can open up new levels of consciousness and promote healing.

The Dancer Pose, also known as Natarajasana, is characterized by a lifted heart, an arched back, one hand extending back to hold a foot high, and the other hand reaching forward with a delicate gesture—a circle formed by the thumb and forefinger and three fingers extended. It’s that combination of the asana and the mudra.

Not just the hand positions are used in mudras. Numerous internal and exterior body positions, gestures, and locks are among them. In Sitali Pranayama (Cooling Breath), rolling your tongue creates a mudra. A similar thing occurs in Simhasana when you cross your eyes and gaze up between your brows (Lion Pose). Additionally, every one of the bandhas, also known as locks, is an internal mudra made to contain and focus prana in a specific direction.

Mudric finger positions are related to healing modalities like acupressure, acupuncture, hand and foot reflexology, and massage treatment since they all involve the release of endorphins and dopamine, the body's inherent biological healing compounds that aid in the healing process. These healing compounds are released when reflex spots on the fingertip are pressed, allowing one to balance any diseased area of the body. For instance, clenching one's hands is a typical reaction to stress or anxiety. This response really produces a mudra, which stimulates several reflex points and aids in calming the person down.

Gyan (Knowledge) mudra for stress

How to: Join the tip of the thumb to the tip of the index finger to form an O shape, while all the other fingers are straight & relaxed. Imagine the thumb and the index finger to be one and not detached, uniting the Brahma (thumb) and individual consciousness (index finger).

Why to: This hand gesture works with the air element in the body, and is often used during pranayama and meditation. It helps in managing stress, increasing concentration levels and calming the entire nervous system. Activating the pineal gland, Gyan mudra helps with headaches and keeps you calm.

Duration: Practice the mudra either for 45 minutes at a stretch or distribute it to 15 minutes three times a day. You can start with 5 minutes and extend gradually.

Here is a great video to introduce you to the world of Mudras:

 WEEKLY ASTROLOGY

Pluto entered Aquarius earlier this year for the first time since the 1700s. It has lingered since that era-defining movement at the crossroads of Capricorn and Aquarius. Its time in Aquarius is a transitory moment prior to Pluto retrograding back into Capricorn from June 11 until January 2024, when we will revisit our journeys of transformation from the last 15 years.

Pluto is our planet with the slowest motion, whereas Mercury has the fastest. Mercury, the planet of excitement, curiosity, speed, and mischief, enters Gemini on June 11 and stays there through June 26.

Saturn underwent a significant transformation earlier this year when it entered Pisces for the first time in 27 years. Saturn begins its first retrograde motion in Pisces, a water sign, since 1996 this week.

Depending on where you live in the world, the Gemini new Moon occurs on June 17 or 18, which falls between the end of one week and the start of the next.

While a retrograde can seem slower than the typical onward speed, Gemini in Mercury and the new Moon shortly after can lighten up anything that may have seemed heavy. Allow this introspection to motivate you and arouse your interest, curiosity, and wisdom. Allow this new Moon's starting to be influenced by and inspired by the underworld that Pluto and Saturn are currently traversing.

Dancing or brisk walks can slash diabetes Risk by 74%, even when it runs in the family according to a huge new study.

In comparison to their sedentary counterparts, those who were able to complete more than an hour of moderate-to-vigorous exercise each day had a 74% lower risk of diagnosis.

When the disease runs in the family, the protection even applied to people who were genetically predisposed. Their vulnerability really decreased more than that of inactive people at low genetic risk.

CRYSTAL OF THE DAY

LEARN SANSKRIT
Kundalini (koon -dah -lee -nee)

"Kundalini" is a Sanskrit word that means "coiled one." This expression refers to the primordial energy that is "coiled" at the base of the spine in spiritual circles. Through yoga postures, controlled breathing, and meditation, one can awaken the kundalini and direct its enlightening energy upward through the seven energy centers to the final chakra sahasrara at the top of the head.

MANTRA OF THE WEEK
Maitreya Mantra

Maitreya is the next Buddha. He is currently waiting in the Tushita heaven for his time on earth which will be 5,670,000,000 years after the death of Śakyamuni. After this period the Buddhadharma will have completely died out, and Maitreya will 'rediscover' it just as all previous Buddhas have done so. Maitreya's emblem is the stupa, sometimes sitting on a lotus, as in this image, and his mudra is the wheel turning, or teaching mudra. He is sometimes shown as sitting in a chair in Western style.

Buddhists can sometimes be heard to pray: "Come Maitreya, come!"

This mantra brings harmony, calms our soul, and purifies our body's negative energies and influences. Mantra Maitreya is a powerful tool of spiritual growth, which is necessary for every person who aspires to self-perfection and spiritual development.

Maitreya (Sanskrit: मैत्रेय) is the # Bodhisattva of the Vajra family, also considered to be the future buddha-tathagata, whose arrival is expected after the Buddha Shakyamuni.

Maitreya cared for people for many lifetimes, helping them in everything, and finally reached the highest step of the path of the bodhisattva. The Buddha Ratnagarbha accepted his bodhisattva vow and foretold that he would become a buddha.
