OM- the universal sound

Everything in the universe is vibrating at a certain frequency and the sound “OM” vibrates at the same vibrational frequency found in all things in nature and stands for all-pervading consciousness. ‘OM’ is believed to be the fundamental sound of creation and caters to all aspects of life - physical, emotional as well as spiritual growth. Thus, it symbolizes spiritual awakening and inner peace.

When we chant ‘OM’, we are symbolically and physically tuning in to the Universal sound and recognizing our connection to everything within the cosmos. This is the easiest introduction to what sound does to your being.

In the Upanishads, the mantra OM is said to be the manifestation of ‘parabrahman’, i.e the core of the ultimate reality. It is said that the sound of this cosmic energy can't be heard from the ear but from the heart. The word ‘OM’, thus is the silence you need and the silence in completion.

NADA YOGA

Nada yoga is about sounds and the attribute of how it affects our inner being. The word Nada comes from the Sanskrit root “nad” which means to flow or the sound current, and Yoga means “union”. Nada Yoga is hence the process of uniting the individual self with the universal self through the flow of sound. The Nada is what connects us to Pranava - Om.

The practice of Nada Yoga is the technique of tuning ourselves to the sound and vibrations of the universe, as well as experiencing the lasting sensation of the vibrations even when the sound has silenced.

The vibrations of the cosmic energy live eternally, and by the use of mantras, we can condition our bodies to attune to the vibrations of oneness. Through the external and internal practice of these vibrations, you can recalibrate your inner self and learn to use your body as an instrument. Sounds from different mantras greatly help in releasing physical as well as emotional stress as the sound moves through you dismantling blockages. Nada yoga can raise the vibration in each chakra that they are individually connected with as well as enhance your awareness of parts of your body that weren’t previously tapped into.

Music can make plants grow faster! Plants have proven to be some of the most popular indicators of a variety of human emotions. This can be seen in their growth, their appearance, and how they move. According to a study, plants are said to grow faster when exposed to music. This is because music and sound affect all living things at a cellular level, including plants. The growth hormones in plants are thus activated by the inherent energy of sound waves which helps them grow faster and healthier and increase their resistance to infections.
