Reiki Symbols
Reiki symbols are sacred emblems that are used by Reiki healing practitioners, especially within Usui Reiki, a form of alternative healing that was developed in early 1900s Japan by Mikao Usui. They visually represent the specific energies that can be activated and directed via Reiki.
There are several Usui Reiki symbols, and each has a special meaning and function. The following are a few of the most popular Usui Reiki symbols:
Cho Ku Rei: The power symbol. It’s used to increase the power of Reiki, but it also provides protection, grounding, and has the ability to clear energy blockages.
Sei Hei Ki: The mental/emotional symbol. It’s used to heal emotional and mental problems like anxiety, depression, and addiction.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen: The distance symbol. It’s used to send Reiki energy to someone who’s not physically present, or to connect with past or future events.
Dai Ko Myo: The master symbol. It’s used to activate the highest level of Reiki energy, and is integral for attunements and to connect with the spiritual realm.
Raku: The completion symbol. It’s used to ground and settle the body at the end of treatment, sealing all that positive energy inside.
Reiki symbols can be employed in combination or alone to accomplish various healing objectives. It's critical to keep in mind that while Reiki symbols play a significant role in this comprehensive approach, Reiki healing does not require them. The symbols are only meant to be teaching aids; they have no inherent power. They help someone learn how to modify the way that Reiki energy, sometimes referred to as "qi" or "chi," is already in operation. The practitioner's intention and energy are the most crucial components of Reiki healing; the symbols only support this!
Here is an example of one reiki symbol:
The “Cho Ku Rei” Reiki Symbol
Translated as: “Placing all the power of the Universe here, now.”
Looks Like: A straight line at the top and a spiral at the bottom.
When to Use: At the beginning of a Reiki session, as it helps practitioners to connect with the universal life force energy.
How It’s Used: Simply by drawing the symbol in the air or visualising it in their mind's eye, a Reiki practitioner can activate the energy of Cho Ku Rei and direct it to wherever it’s needed. The direction that the symbol is drawn in determines whether it’s being used to increase or decrease power. It’s sometimes thought of as “a switch”. By visualising the symbol around themselves or a client, a practitioner can create a barrier of positive energy that repels negative energy and protects against psychic attacks.
In addition, the Cho Ku Rei symbol can be used to clear energy blockages, balance the chakras or simply focus one's attention. By drawing the symbol over a specific chakra or area of the body, a practitioner can activate a stronger flow of energy that boosts healing.

TODAY'S POSITIVE NEWS
Next-generation mosquito nets ‘saving lives’
A new type of mosquito net has averted 13m cases of malaria and 24,600 deaths, research suggests.
The New Nets Project piloted the use of dual-insecticide nets in malaria-endemic countries between 2019 and 2022 to address the growing challenge of insecticide resistance.
Some 56m mosquito nets were distributed across 17 sub-Saharan nations. Studies suggest they improved malaria control by 20-50% compared to standard nets. The new nets are comparable in cost to older versions but could save health services millions.
“There is no silver bullet to eliminating malaria and we cannot rely on single interventions, but rather invest in a suite of tools,” said Dr Michael Charles, CEO of the RBM Partnership to End Malaria. “The dual-insecticide nets are a shining example of one of these tools and the results, coupled with the savings for health systems, make the case for their continued rollout globally.”
ZEN STORY
THE MOVE
Two men visit a Zen master.
The first man says: “I’m thinking of moving to this town. What’s it like?”
The Zen master asks: “What was your old town like?”
The first man responds: “It was dreadful. Everyone was hateful. I hated it.”
The Zen master says: “This town is very much the same. I don’t think you should move here.”
The first man leaves and the second man comes in.
The second man says: “I’m thinking of moving to this town. What’s it like?”
The Zen master asks: “What was your old town like?”
The second man responds: “It was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and I was happy. Just interested in a change now.”
The Zen master says: “This town is very much the same. I think you will like it here.”
What we seek is what we find. The reasons why you do what you do matter as much, if not more, as what you end up doing. Because they shape how you seek. So, ultimately, they’ll also determine what you find.

Gate Pose (Parighasana)
What is Gate Pose?
Gate pose, or parighasana in Sanskrit, is an important side-bending posture that builds spinal flexibility. From a kneeling posture, one leg is stretched out to the side. The yogi reaches the opposite arm overhead and toward the extended leg, opening the side body.
Instructions
Begin kneeling.
Exhale and stretch the right leg out to the side.
Inhale and reach the arms out to the sides.
Exhale and reach the left arm up, overhead and to the right, opening the side body. Rest the right hand on the right leg.
Breathe while holding the pose. Inhale and return to center. Change sides.
