TODAY'S LEARNINGAncient Yoga Symbols & Their Meanings
Mystical symbolism is prevalent in yoga and meditation. However, many of the deeper meanings of these ancient sacred symbols have been lost in the commercialization and neglect of modern yoga. Many practitioners use symbols on clothing, jewelry, or even tattoos to show their devotion to and love for yoga. But these symbols are more than just decorations; becoming familiar with and comprehending yogic symbols is a necessary step toward learning more about yogic philosophies, teachings, and mythologies.
Symbol of the Gyan Mudra
The most popular hand mudra in yoga and meditation is this one. By touching the tip of the index finger to the tip or the base of the thumb, we make the "ok" gesture with our hands. The thumb represents the solar plexus and the fire element, while the index finger symbolizes the heart chakra and the air element.
The illustration of the mudra represents the state of meditation and the achievement of inner peace because using this mudra while meditating promotes calmness and peace. Jnana mudra and chin mudra are other names for this symbol.
Flower of the Lotus
The open lotus flower is a symbol of innocence, enlightenment, and fresh starts. The lovely lotus blooms on the surface of the still, murky water, and its roots spread far into the murky substrate. A water lily also represents our capacity to turn major setbacks and challenges into inspirational life lessons. An unrealized yogi on the path to enlightenment is symbolized by a closed lotus flower. A blue lotus flower represents wisdom and mindfulness. A white lotus stands for spiritual and intellectual purity. Mysticism is symbolized by a purple lotus, while the Buddha's sacred lotus is pink.
The Shri Yantra
A yantra is a geometric design that helps concentrate the mind during meditation. The energy, strength, and creativity of the divine mother have been symbolized for thousands of years by the Shri Yantra, a sacred geometry symbol. The mother or queen of all other yantras, it is also referred to as Sri Chakra. It is thought to repel negative energies and draw in positive ones.
The Coiled Snake
The muladhara chakara, symbolized as a coiling snake, is said to contain the dormant Kundalini energy. In Hinduism, Anantha Shesha is symbolized by a coiling snake, signifying infinity and the infinite number of cycles through which the universe is created, destroyed, and recreated. The snake represents knowledge, recovery, change, and regeneration. In Eastern culture, snakes have always held a special place because they are viewed as a symbol of longevity and immortality.
The Moon's Crescent
A crescent moon is frequently depicted on the head of the Hindu god Shiva to represent eternity and mastery over time. The crescent moon is referred to as Chandra in Hinduism, an ancient lunar deity that symbolizes fertility. In yoga, a crescent moon is used to symbolize rebirth, impermanence, and decay.

POSITIVE NEWS OF THE DAY
In one of the world’s most crucial oil pricing regions, single-use plastic will be all but eliminated on January 1, 2024.
The ban is part of an effort to lessen the 8 million new tons of plastic waste that is thought to be added to the world's oceans every year. The announcement gives environmentalists all over the world hope by demonstrating that even nations with an economic stake in the production of plastics derived from oil are taking action to make improvements.
The UAE has made significant progress in terms of sustainability by outlawing single-use plastic products. This will not only lessen the amount of plastic waste that ends up in the ocean, but it will also inspire people to shop and eat in more environmentally friendly ways.
