The Secrets Of Deja Vu
Have you ever experienced a moment that feels eerily familiar, as if you’ve experienced it before? Let's investigate this fascinating area of deja vu psychology, where curiosity is piqued and memory and awareness are examined due to the mind's sense of familiarity.
Scientists, psychologists, and the general public have been captivated by the bewildering phenomena of déjà vu for generations. So join us as we embark on a journey into the depths of the phenomenon of déjà vu, exploring what it is, what triggers deja vu, and how does déjà vu happen.
What is déjà vu?
The French phrase "déjà vu" means "already seen." It alludes to the feeling of familiarity in the face of an experience that defies explanation.
What precisely is déjà vu, then? It is a psychological phenomena defined by the unsettling feeling that, even though something is happening to you for the first time, you have already experienced it. It has to do with a familiarity that memory cannot account for.
Even though you are aware that you have never experienced this before, it feels like you are living out a memory from the past. There are different ways that déjà vu might appear, from brief feelings to strong, protracted moments that have a lasting effect.
This fascinating occurrence is attempted to be explained by several theories:
1. Dual-Processing Theory
This idea states that déjà vu happens when familiarity and remembrance temporarily become misaligned or disconnected from one another.
Your mind perceives this as a familiar circumstance, giving rise to déjà vu, but at the same time it is unable to jog the particular memory connected to it.
2. Memory Mismatch Theory
According to this hypothesis, déjà vu happens when there's a discrepancy between the way your brain processes and stores sensory information and what it actually gets.
The sensation of déjà vu is caused by the brain misinterpreting the present experience as a previous one due to similarities it detects between it and a stored memory.
3. Hologram Theory
According to the holographic theory, déjà vu is the brain's attempt to balance contradicting information from different sensory inputs.
Even though the memory itself might not be consciously accessible, a sensation of familiarity is produced when these inputs match a stored recollection.
4. Memory Consolidation and Reconstruction
The complex brain mechanisms involved in memory consolidation and reconstruction may be connected to the psychology of déjà vu. Our brain gathers, organizes, and retains information from experiences to construct memories.
The brain uses bits and pieces of information that have been stored in order to reconstruct the event when that memory is recalled. Déjà vu could arise when the mind inadvertently uses pieces of comparable but distinct memories to piece together a present event.
5. Familiarity and False Recognition
The sensation of familiarity connected to déjà vu is caused by a mental mechanism known as false recognition. When we wrongly identify something as familiar even if we have never seen it before, it is known as false recognition.
Due to this cognitive bias, the brain may mistakenly interpret the current circumstance as having happened before, creating the sense of déjà vu.

‘A Beautiful Idea’: This French Town Is Making its Cemetery a Source of Solar Energy
A community on the Loire in France has come up with a solar-powered idea that will clear two hurdles in a single leap.
The town of Saint-Joachim is located near the Brière marsh, a peat bog that becomes easily inundated with water. The local graveyard rests at 0 feet above sea level and standing water has become a major problem.
The mayor eventually proposed covering the graveyard to divert the rainwater into catch tanks to water the grass around the cemetery and nearby sporting complex in the dry summer months.
ZEN STORY
CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS BASED ON TRUTH
Zen Masters Yutang and Dayu accepted an invitation to instruct a major official interested in Zen. Master Yutang addressed the official, “You are a naturally intelligent and receptive man. I think you will make a fine student of Zen.”
In contrast, the other master Dayu exclaimed, “You’ve got to be kidding. This lamebrain may have a high position but he wouldn’t know Zen if he was hit over the head with it.”
Then the major official said, “After listening to your two honorable opinions I have decided what to do.”
In the end, not only did the official not build a temple for Yutang, he built one for Dayu and studied Zen with him.
Meaning: Normally when you choose friends, you choose those who support your limitations. You will always choose those kind of friends with whom your ego is comfortable. You seek a spiritual master not because you want to hear pretty things; you seek him because you want truth.
