TODAY'S LEARNING
Self-Identity

The self is made up of many interconnected and interdependent components, including experiences, early life, ideas, profession, interests and dislikes, biology, emotions, and so forth.

An honest opinion and correct understanding of oneself can be understood as our identity.

What would you write if someone asked you to define yourself? What do you think or do others think? We address ourselves by our names or as "I" or "me." Self-identity is the process by which we define "I" according to how we see ourselves and in our own terms. Self-identity is the state in which you have faith in your own self-concept. If you have faith in your own self-image, you won't allow criticism to chip away at who you are. We can better investigate and comprehend who we are when we have a solid concept of self-identity.

Why is self-identity important?

It addresses one's own why. Over and underestimation, positive, negative, good, bad are all attributes that get attached to our narrative of self. Our unique personality is shaped by how we interpret our identity. Delusional identity results from having an incorrect self-perception, which causes us to believe we are someone we are not. Each individual is distinct and diverse. It establishes benchmarks for us to meet. Based on your social identity, you carry out your work in accordance with social norms. But when you understand your self-identity, you understand how it benefits you.

Benefits of Self-Identity

Self-identity is crucial because you cannot answer the question, "Who am I?" if you do not know who you are.

If you know and believe in your ideas about yourself then you gain confidence, there are several ways to gain confidence.

You learn to balance emotions like in the earlier situation you will not feel angry or sad when someone passes a negative comment.

You gain control over your behavior when you acknowledge the significance of your self-identity. similar to when you are the one driving and not someone else's. Being in charge of your activities implies that you are the only one who can decide what to do; in other words, no one else can control your car.

How to Develop Self-Identification

When you are self-assured, emotionally stable, adept at managing your emotions, and aware of your actions, you come to terms with who you are. You get an inner sense of fulfillment when you realize who you really are. You don't need to ask other people to sum you up.

Developing self-identification and self-belief takes time and effort. Here are some tips to help individuals develop these critical aspects of their personality:

Practice self-reflection: Take time to reflect on your experiences, values, and beliefs. Write them down and think about how they define you as a person.

Challenge negative self-talk: When negative thoughts arise, challenge them with positive affirmations. For example, if you catch yourself thinking, "I'm not good enough," counter it with, "I am capable and deserving of success."

Set achievable goals: Set goals that are challenging but attainable. Celebrate small successes along the way to build confidence and self-belief.

Surround yourself with supportive people: Build relationships with individuals who support and encourage you. Surrounding yourself with positive people can help boost your confidence and self-belief.

Practice self-care: Take care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Prioritize activities that bring you joy and help you feel good about yourself.

TODAY'S POSITIVE NEWS

UK Restaurant is Letting People Pay-as-They-Can While Rescuing Tons of Food

A restaurant in England has been able to employ 22 full and part-time staff serving food rescued from landfills to people on a “pay-as-you-can” basis.

This fantastic achievement is rooted in two significant challenges faced by the UK: price inflation has increased the average cost of food by a quarter, and as many as 10 million Brits, Scots, and N. Irish are malnourished.

The Long Table’s remarkable business model is rooted in conscience and ethics as much as anything they put on the menu. The Guardian reports that 6.4 million tons of food goes to waste in the country every year, amounting to quite a hefty bill of carbon emissions from rotting food and transportation to move it around.

ZEN STORY
My Heart Burns Like Fire

Soyen Shaku, the first Zen teacher to come to America, said: “My heart burns like fire but my eyes are as cold as dead ashes.” He made the following rules which he practiced every day of his life.

In the morning before dressing, light incense and meditate.

Retire at a regular hour. Partake of food at regular intervals. Eat with moderation and never to the point of satisfaction.

Receive a guest with the same attitude you have when alone. When alone, maintain the same attitude you have in receiving guests.

Watch what you say, and whatever you say, practice it.

When an opportunity comes do not let it pass you by, yet always think twice before acting.

Do not regret the past. Look to the future.

Have the fearless attitude of a hero and the loving heart of a child.

Upon retiring, sleep as if you had entered your last sleep. Upon awakening, leave your bed behind you instantly as if you had cast away a pair of old shoes.\
