WEEKEND TEACHINGS
Shadow Work Journal Prompts

Journaling can help encode your insights into your conscious awareness. Additionally, journaling might be employed more frequently as a technique for shadow work.

Personally, I've found that the best way to use a notebook for inner work is to write automatically. You can write down your thoughts without thinking editing, judging, or remark when you use automatic writing.

I am aware, though, that some people would rather have more organization. As a consequence, shadow journal prompts and questions can be useful.

Beginners' Shadow Work Journal Prompts

Here’s a list of 15 shadow work prompts to help get you started:

  1. What did I have an emotional reaction to today?

  2. What’s behind that reaction?

  3. Do those feelings relate to anything in my past?

  4. What did I judge in myself today?

  5. Where did I learn this judgment (in my past)?

  6. What did I judge in others today?

  7. Can I observe and acknowledge these same qualities within myself?

  8. What am I most afraid of?

  9. What feelings am I trying to avoid?

  10. Why am I afraid of these feelings?

  11. What am most ashamed of?

  12. How do I sabotage myself?

  13. What do I do when I’m trying to avoid something that makes me uncomfortable?

  14. How am I similar to my parents?

  15. What qualities are in my parents that I seek to avoid?

There are many ways to approach these shadow work journal prompts and questions.

You can pick a time in the evening to reflect on your day. Work with a few chosen questions for a few weeks (or more). The more you bring awareness to these shadowwork questions, the more your mind will get used to inner analysis.

CRYSTAL OF THE DAY

TIP OF THE DAY

One of the oldest aura cleansing practices is smudging with dried white sage. Smudging is basically the burning of sacred herbs and using the smoke coming out of it, to cleanse your aura. To do this, you can use any of the herbs including sage, thyme, and cedar. To do so, light the bundle of herbs like an incense stick and pass the smoke gently over each and every part of your body.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

Too many people think the grass is greener somewhere else but the grass is green where you water it, remember that.
