HOW TO:
Tibetan Singing Bowls

Tibetan singing bowls, also referred to as Himalayan bowls or singing bowls, are thought to relieve stress and encourage relaxation. A type of bowl called a Tibetan singing bowl vibrates and emits a deep, rich tone when it is played.

Tibetan singing bowls have been used for meditation by Buddhist monks for a very long time. Additionally, some health professionals use Tibetan singing bowls during therapy, such as music therapists, massage therapists, and yoga therapists.

Singing bowl therapy has the following purposes:

Stress relief: According to some research, Tibetan singing bowls can help people unwind and feel less anxious. Singing bowl therapy may help with improving sleep because it has been linked to a reduction in anxiety and tension. To support this, more research is required.

Lowering blood pressure: A preliminary investigation into the advantages of beginning a directed relaxation session with 12 minutes of singing bowl sounds was published in the American Journal of Health Promotion in 2014. Compared to silence before the session, it was discovered that there was a greater decrease in systolic blood pressure and heart rate.

Reducing depression: One study suggested that singing bowl therapy might be a cheap way to assist in reducing symptoms of depression by linking it to improvements in mood.

Stimulating the immune system: Some also claim that Tibetan singing bowls can stimulate the immune system and produce beneficial changes in brain waves.

Pain relief: According to one study, singing bowl therapy significantly reduced stress levels and pain intensity in patients with chronic spinal pain. The study's authors came to the conclusion that the effectiveness of singing bowl therapy for pain relief could not be confirmed because placebo treatment had the same results.

Body harmonization and balancing: According to many supporters, the vibrations of a singing bowl can bring about positive changes in the body by "harmonizing" the cells and "balancing the body's energy system."

Some people combine the bowls with other healing techniques, like meditation and deep breathing, to enhance their effects.

Sound Therapy:

The benefits of listening to the bowls may be related to the ancient practice of sound therapy. Often used by Indigenous cultures throughout the world, sound therapy involves pulsing sounds, clapping, drumming, and singing for ceremonial, spiritual, and health purposes.

DID YOU KNOW?

As for its origins, singing bowls date as far back as 3000 years; yet there isn’t any traditional literature that covers the subject of singing bowls in any detail. To even find out the traditional mixture of metals used to create them took a lot of scientific examination!
