The seventh and final chakra, Sahasrara, is situated at the crown of the head. Sahasrara, which meaning "thousand-petaled," is a representation of the lotus flower of enlightenment. When kundalini energy ascends through all the chakras into Sahasrara, which occurs when Nirvana is attained, it is said to bloom open. The skull, brain, nerve system, pituitary gland, pineal gland, and hypothalamus are the body parts connected to Sahasrara.

We recognize ourselves as being one with the Universe/Creator and profoundly connected to its higher knowledge and guidance when consciousness is flowing through this chakra. When our higher selves and the Divine work in unison, we can achieve our fullest potential and live a spiritually healthy, balanced existence.

You could argue that Sahasrara serves as our connection to the Divine and binds our existence as humans to the unity of all things. The ego begins to disappear at this level of consciousness, and we are liberated from the confines of a "me, myself, and I" worldview. Instead, we see ourselves in everyone and everything.

How to Tell if Sahasrara is Blocked
